Lootboxes are something of a contentious issue at the moment - from Overwatch to Call of Duty: WWII, they’re pretty much everywhere you could care to look. So news that they’d be cropping up in Assassin’s Creed Origins was unexpected, if not entirely welcome. Fortunately, it seems that the game’s boxes are only available to buy with in-game currency.

AC Origins’ lootboxes can be purchased from an NPC named Reda, a wandering merchant who offers ‘Heka’ Chests (those are Magic Chests to those of you who don’t speak ancient Egyptian) for 3,000 Drachma, the in-game currency.
