I really do not know if I should be pleased or angry at having seen this poster for Crisis in Antwerp this year. I will thank James for spotting it though.
What is very clear is my 'Loki' identity has been nicked, stolen, pilfered, lifted, tea leafed or any other name you want to give it and used for a commercial purpose without my permission. While on the one hand I am really pleased someone thinks my work is worthy of display for such an important event, on the other I am angry that I was not asked if it could be used for this purpose. I also have not been given an all expenses paid trip to said event as a payment for using my image and stealing my identity!!!
Yes you did read it right my image, when we take or create our images we automatically create a copyright, they belong to us as individuals, just because we post them to the net does not make them freely usable to the wider public. You cant use them unless you have explicit permission from the creator of the image, or comply with the terms of a rights statement, in either case if you are unclear you must contact the image creator, the copyright owner or the website owner.

Now that may seem a bit petty but that character painted by me is my persona and identity on the Internet for this very blog, any forums I frequent etc he features heavily. You only have to type my name Andrew 'loki' Saunders into a Google search and he appears straight away. Now I do realise this also means that the image appears in Google if you search hard enough not using my name as well but which ever way you cut it the images lead back here and I am freely contactable. If they had visited then they would have been able to read my copyright notice too which says no commercial use. Being a war gamer they could have asked me if it was alright for them to use it and I probably would have not been bothered in fact quite the opposite.
Right now however I am very ANGRY and as gnarly as a cantankerous Viking can get where is my F++kin axe!!
So now I have a dilemma do I request that they stop using the image in their posters and any other places it appears, do I impose my copyright and demand a fee for using it? or should I be quietly very impressed, that my work is deemed to be of good enough quality to promote what is after all a very big event in the war games calendar? what would you do?
Right that is it rant over for now I am off to calm down by order of the wife!!!
